Healing Broken Bones Naturally—Here’s What I’m Doing

So, here’s a fun story…

My husband and I had just bought a kayak from Costco and were loading it into the car. Since I drive an SUV, we had to put the seats down to fit it in the back. I reached in to grab a water bottle from the back center console before laying the seats flat—but my so sweet, absolutely adorable husband, standing on the other side, not knowing I was there, hit the seat release button before I was out of the way.

The seats came flying at me—no exaggeration, 90mph (or at least that’s how it felt)—and smash. My middle finger took the brunt of it, slammed between the seat and the console. I felt it bend the opposite direction and heard the grossest pop. I knew right away it was broken.

Tuning In Before Turning to X-Rays

I waited three days before getting an x-ray. Not because I’m a martyr, but because I really didn’t want the radiation exposure. When I tuned in to my body (something I always encourage clients to do), I could literally see the break—location, angle, everything. I knew they’d just give me a splint and send me on my way.

But on day 3, I woke up with the tip of my finger numb, to which I said, “uuugh, fiiiine-uh”. So I went to get an x-ray just to be sure it wasn’t worse than I thought.

Sure enough, the x-ray confirmed exactly what I had felt—fractured in the spot I had envisioned.

Protecting My Body From the Inside Out

Here’s the part where I might lose some of you—but stay with me. Before the x-ray, they handed me this tiny baby apron to "protect" my reproductive organs. Meanwhile, my thyroid, brain, heart, and everything else were just... hanging out. So, I visualized my own energetic lead shield. I imagined a thick wall of protection surrounding my entire body and silently told my cells, “You’re safe.”

Honestly, I don’t know if it helped, but it did help my anxiety about it, and intention matters!

Later that night, I couldn’t sleep. I felt this weird buzzing in my body, like I’d been zapped (uh…literally!). I did some energy work, moved out what felt stuck, and finally drifted off.

The next morning? Scratchy throat. Yep, textbook thyroid symptom. I forgot to take any post-x-ray support the night before. But I caught it early, tuned in and asked what my body needed, to which my body said, “selenium and vitamin E”— so I took my go-to combo, and within 30 minutes, the scratchiness was gone. (Just for fun, here’s a study I found)

Now… Let’s Talk Bone Healing, Naturally

Here’s how I’m supporting my finger as it heals—and how you can support bone healing naturally:

Nutrition First:

  • High-quality protein & collagen – Bones are made of collagen and protein helps rebuild tissue.

  • Whole foods rich in calcium, magnesium, silica, and vitamin C – Think leafy greens, bone broth, nettle and horsetail tea, strawberries, and golden kiwi.

Targeted Supplements:

  • Calcium + Magnesium (in proper balance)

  • Vitamin D3 + K2 to help calcium go into the bone where it belongs

  • Silica – crucial for collagen and connective tissue

  • Zinc and Boron – underrated minerals for bone strength

  • Homeopathic Symphytum – traditionally used for fractures (often called “bone knit”)

Energetic Support:

  • Daily energy healing over the fracture

  • Gentle visualization: picturing the bone knitting back together

Physical Support:

  • Keeping it supported as needed

  • Icing to minimize swelling

  • Allowing my husband to open jars and other things…

You should’ve seen me trying to use the garlic press with one hand. It was chaos. I was determined, stubborn, and a little sweaty. When my husband realized what I was doing, he just looked at me in disbelief and said, “Why don’t you just ask me to help you?”

“Because, I’m a strong independent woman!” (It’s a joke in our house)

Emotional Support:

This has also been a good opportunity for me to revisit some of my emotional patterns. I’d catch myself feeling guilty when my husband was doing the dishes or when I’d ask him for help. Somewhere deep down, there’s still this belief that I need to do it all. (Yes, even though it’s simple little things like smashing garlic, cutting a lemon, opening jars, washing dishes…)

But here’s the thing— he wants to help. This poor guy feels awful! He even said, “It’s my job to protect your and I hurt you.” So yeah, we’re doing some emotional work on him too.

I’ve been practicing saying thank you… and letting it be enough.

I know it’s just a finger—and maybe this all sounds a little dramatic, but I thought there were some good teachable moments in this story!

Mind-Body-Spirit Healing is Real

Healing isn’t just physical—it’s energetic, emotional, and spiritual too—even in the smallest things. I’m using this time as a reminder to accept help, nourish deeply, and trust the innate wisdom of my body.

And you better believe I’ll be extra cautious next time we load up that kayak.
